About

dsc005981 My story begins in Bellingham, Washington and ends in Searcy, Arkansas. You might ask how that came to be. Don’t be confused, I’m a little confused myself. I’m currently still living in Arkansas and am interning at Searcy Living, a local community interest magazine and am enjoying every minute of it.

I was home schooled all the way through high school and never attended public school. When I was 17 I started attending Whatcom Community College and spent the majority of my time playing sports and working. After a couple years I made the decision to attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas where I received a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis in public relations. I don’t regret this decision in the least and am thankful for the time I spent at Harding.

I’m currently building a web presence to increase my chances of finding an opportunity in communication. I originally had wanted to have a space people could easily access writing samples; however I hope to use this opportunity to blog on topics that interest me as well.

Over the past 10 years I have been a certified umpire for several national organizations for women’s fast pitch. The communication and public relations skills I gained from this experience were endless and I find myself applying them in how I communicate and write on an everyday basis. The education I received in public relations at Harding was superb. The PR program head Jack Shock has been a great friend and mentor. He is currently a communicator for the American Red Cross and worked in the Clinton administration and I have leaned so much from his vast years of experience.

As I embark into my carrier I’m exited to see what opportunities are in store for me. While the poor economy looms over us I’m encouraged by opportunities and suggestions by colleagues and hope to soon find a position that will satisfy my passion for communicating. I’m open to any of the many paths you can fallow with public relations.

If you were to ask me what my greatest strength is I would say it is that I have a keen awareness of what my weaknesses are.

Thanks for visiting. I would love to connect with you so feel free to get in touch.
